Job Summary

The primary aim of this role is to provide a wide range of advanced statistical expertise, guidance, and support to quality improvement (QI) researchers, scientists; faculty, QI teams, and managers engaged in QI projects or QI research studies within Grady Health System (GHS). This position applies comprehensive knowledge of statistics and the scientific method to the development/design, analysis and reporting of healthcare quality and/or research studies. Provides guidance in appropriate study design, sample size, data collection methodology, and analysis methods for any GHS -initiated or collaborative studies. Supports physicians, clinical faculty, administrators, and staff through preparation of statistical analysis plans, detailed statistical analyses of data and written documents needed for reports, presentations and/or peer-reviewed publications. Advises the system as to process, methods or education needed to improve data, analytic processes and quality or research-related activities.

Job Responsibilities

 Design and Implement QI analysis plan.

Designs, analyzes, implements, and reports findings on targeted statistical QI/QI research studies; provides consultation to investigators and researchers on experimental design and statistical research approaches, requirements, and scientific standards.

Works with QI project teams to formalize analysis plans and reporting specifications; advises on the choice of statistical analysis strategies, reliability of measurements of models, and interpretation and presentation of statistical results.

Builds and sustains collaborative relationships with individuals in different disciplines and serves as a subject-matter expert in advanced analytics for QI teams, internal and external committees, and other constituencies and collaborators.

Plans and documents computer data file structure; develops programs, manages, and maintains complex statistical databases; performs or supervises data entry.

Uses a variety of advanced statistical software, methods, and techniques to gather, analyze, and interpret research data to derive useful information for research data; advises and assists in the development of inferences and conclusions, as appropriate.

Develops enhancements to statistical software, as appropriate, by programming new techniques; maintains knowledge of current and emerging trends in statistical analysis methodology.

Assists in the preparation of documents and reports, protocols, scientific abstracts, peer-reviewed manuscripts, and responses to requests from regulatory agencies, local Institutional Review Board, and other health authorities.

 

Education

Required:

Master's Degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field Preferred:

Experience

Required:

Three (3) or more year's job related experience including experience with utilizing statistical software such as R, SAS, or SPSS for data analysis and modeling. Assisted in the publication of QI/QI research findings, ensuring statistical soundness

Ability to apply a range of advanced statistical techniques in support of scientific research studies and/or experiments. Strong analytical communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize projects. Strong focus and quality and timely delivery of work. Ability to plan, create, program and manage complex statistical computer databases. Ability to analyze, interpret, and draw conclusions from complex statistical information. Knowledge of current and emerging trends in advanced statistical analysis for scientific application.

Skills/Certs/License

Required:

 

Preferred:

SAS Certification, Certificate in Applied Biostatistics, R Certification preferred.
