JOB SUMMARY
Eastside Catholic is seeking a passionate, creative and committed High School Biology Teacher for the 2023-24 school year. This role will be a full-time position with benefits. We seek candidates who have a love of teaching, strong collaborative skills and a desire to be a member of a faith-based educational community.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
• Establish clear objectives for assigned biology lessons, labs, learning targets and projects and communicate those objectives to students.
• Work with current science team of teachers to collaborate and set curriculum and lesson planning while also bringing new best practices and ideas.
• Serve as a mentor teacher to a group of 12-15 students.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Commitment to our academic goals of developing critical thinking skills.
• Strong desire to be a member of a Catholic educational community.
• Excellent communication skills and strong collaborative skills
• Willingness and ability to integrate technology into teaching.
• Significant experience working with high school students.
• A passion for subject content material and the skills required to pursue and understand that area of expertise.
• Experience with differentiated instruction in mixed ability classrooms
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Minimum of a bachelor's degree with an academic emphasis in biology
• Recent experience teaching at the high school level in lab science courses
• A teaching certificate is preferred
• A graduate degree in either a science-related field or education is preferred
