This position is part of the National Park Service, Greater Yellowstone Inventory and Monitoring Network. As part of the network team, the individual will be responsible for leading the water resources and amphibian-wetland monitoring programs. The incumbent must have good knowledge and experience in hydrology, water quality science, and aquatic ecology related to wetlands and amphibians. You must meet one of the following Basic Requirements (in any job series) in order to be eligible for this position:
Biologist - 0401 Series Basic Requirements:
Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
or
Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
- Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
or
- Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
- AND-
To qualify for this position you must possess all of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience must include all of the following:
- Implements scientific monitoring protocols to identify, evaluate and conduct long-term monitoring of physical and biological aquatic resources which includes collecting depth and width integrated surface water samples.
- Enters aquatic resource data, physical (water quality) and biological (amphibians), into data repositories that are used to store and retrieve publicly available resource data.
- Applies statistical analysis of aquatic resource data, both physical and biological, using publicly available statistical software.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. You must include transcripts.

Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. You must include your resume with hours worked per week annotated, as well as transcripts.
You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies". Experience listed as full-time will be credited at 40 hours per week.
