EAS has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiasticBiologist II to assist with a downstream fish passage study utilizing rotary screw traps in the Willamette River Basin Near Corvallis, OR. and Eugene, OR.
Essential Functions (reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions):
- Proficient in fisheries field techniques, tagging techniques, evaluating the health of juvenile salmonids, and data collection and reporting
- Conduct routine maintenance and support installation and retrieval of rotary screw traps
- Identify, sample, tag, and accurately record relevant data for juvenile salmonids
- Required to perform statistical analysis of data, which may include Excel, R, SAS, Mini Tab, or Primer
- Complete day-to-day schedules for field staff, taking into account PTO, weather, and other variables
- Lead the preparation of internal and external reports
- Ensure quality standards and the use of proper techniques
- Collaborate with teams across business lines and geographies
- Accomplish project management activities as assigned by and in support of lead Project Manager
- Work independently with minimal level of guidance
- Responsible for QA/QC of project tasks, data, and reporting
- Coordinate the project from inception to completion
- Carry out daily operational tasks in an effective and timely manner
- Help problem-solve issues and implement ways to improve the project
- Deliver day-to-day project tracking and communication with the project team
- Perform schedule management for deliverables
- Assist Project Managers with project financials such as but not limited to project budgets, cost control performance, profitability updates to managers, labor costs and expenses review and track all contracts, invoices, and payments to all contractors, consultants, and equipment vendors
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly manage and supervise team members with the assistance of lead Project Manager, Leadership Team, and Human Resources
- Responsibilities include assessing staffing needs, interviewing, hiring, training, and mentoring employees; planning, assigning, and directing work (resource management); rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems, and supporting career growth initiatives (performance management and professional development); providing clear goals/objectives, communicating real time feedback, building morale and trust, and motivating and encouraging team members to reach the desired outcome by example (leadership); revising and approving timesheets, reviewing and approving/declining time off requests, and other related administrative supervisor duties
Desired Qualifications:
- 5 years of relevant work experience, including project management and supervisory experience
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are required to develop and maintain relationships with clients, internal staff/departments, and outside agencies
- Flexible to adapt to evolving project requirements and client requests
- High level of professionalism and discretion with sensitive data
- Strong working knowledge of standard PC software (Excel, Word, Project, Access, PowerPoint)
- Solves moderately complex problems
- Strong attention to detail, and organizational and analytical skills
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations and have no criminal record
- US Citizenship required
- Ability to travel to sites, both local and distant
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a natural resources field or a closely related discipline

- The target U.S. salary range for this position is between $60,000 - $70.000 and will be based on factors such as experience, education, and location of the employee

- Continually required to stand, walk, sit, talk or hear
- Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl
- Frequently required to work in water (streams and moving water ways) with uneven and slippery surfaces
- Frequently have to wade to traps and/or use boats/kayaks to gain access to a trap
- Travelling highways, single lane roads, and forest roads in various driving conditions
- May be required to tow trailers
- Continually work near moving mechanical parts
- Occasionally work in high, precarious places
- Continually exposure to outside weather conditions
- While performing the duties of this job, the noise level environment is usually moderate
- The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 100 pounds/ continually lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision; Distance vision; Color vision; Peripheral vision; Depth perception and ability to adjust focus
