Biological Technician (Fish & Wildlife)

This position with the Glacier Ranger District located in Moose Pass, Alaska.
The position is is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing projects related to the operational segments of the District fisheries and wildlife program.

Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-08: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service defined as one or more of the following:

• collecting wildlife, watershed, or fisheries data for input into project plans for fisheries and wildlife improvement projects;
• leading work crews involved with wildlife, watershed, or fisheries projects; OR
• implementing designated monitoring activities to determine effectiveness of wildlife, fisheries, or aquatic habitat restoration prescriptions and mitigation measures.

OR
Two full years (36 semester/54 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level education or master's degree in a fisheries or wildlife program of study;
OR
A combination of graduate level education and specialized experience described above that together meets the requirements for this position. Only graduate education in excess of 18 semester/27 quarter hours is creditable for this combination. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.
For the GS-09:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 in the Federal service defined as one or more of the following:

• gathering, compiling, and analyzing data to determine wildlife habitat, watershed, or fisheries requirements and management needs;
• preparing wildlife, watershed, or fisheries management input for environmental analysis reports; OR
• interpreting biological requirements for fish and wildlife species and their habitats, and recommending improvement projects.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
