DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES:
The Division of Freshwater Fisheries Management (DFFM) within the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is seeking a fish and wildlife professional with strong leadership ability, supervisory experience, and good interpersonal skills to serve as Regional Fisheries Administrator (RFA) for the Northeast Region. The RFA is responsible for overseeing fish management activities in the NE Region on some of the most high-profile freshwater fisheries in Florida and assists with implementation of programs to enhance and protect freshwater fisheries statewide.
The RFA is responsible for the leadership, planning, supervision, personnel administration, and management of a team of biologists in the NE region. This position also determines scientific data collection needs and develops and implements management actions based on collected data.
This position serves as the fisheries management representative for various lake and watershed committees and councils and coordinates with other agency staff to develop aquatic restoration, enhancement, and aquatic plant management projects that emphasize improving or maintaining sport fish populations, angler access and/or the creation of new fishing opportunities. This position works closely with research personnel to develop projects designed to answer specific management objectives.
The FWC expects its employees to be courteous and respectful while assisting FWC customers and stakeholders, ensuring each encounter is as positive as possible. When appropriate, employees will explain the reasons for agency actions or decisions while communicating a consistent FWC position.
Responsible for following the provisions and requirements in Section 215.422, Florida Statutes, related to the Department of Financial Services rules and FWC's invoice processing and warrant distribution procedures.
Work at FWC is cross-functional meaning duties may cross division/office lines. The FWC expects employees to function across FWC's organizational structure by providing their skills and expertise wherever needed through work on teams or as directed.

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:

• A minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the biological sciences and five years of professional biological experience in a field or laboratory program; or
• A master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the biological sciences and three years of professional experience as described above.
