Status: Full time

Schedule: 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Summary:
Supervises and participates in the daily operations of Patient Financial Services. Ensures a positive patient experience by providing efficient, expeditious, and customer-focused billing, verification, scheduling, pre-registration, and authorization of medical services. Plans, controls, and implements departmental policies and procedures to affect the orderly flow of third-party payer bills, central scheduling and other work assignments. Participates in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities. Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a courteous and customer-focused manner according to the Hurley Family Standards of Behavior.

Works under the general supervision of the departmental director or designee who assigns and checks work for conformance with established policies and procedures. Exercises full supervision over personnel engaged in billing and/or central scheduling activities and maintenance of related work records.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in Business/Public/Health Care Administration or equivalent degree or documented completion of formal training program by a medical institution or agency in inpatient and/or outpatient electronic and UB-04 billing procedures for third party carriers, and three (3) years of experience in inpatient and/or outpatient electronic billing procedures for third party carriers in a hospital setting

  • Education High school graduate and/or GED equivalent and five (5) years of experience in inpatient and/or outpatient electronic billing procedures for third party carriers in a hospital setting.
  • Working knowledge of project management and business office information systems & software such as Google Suite & Microsoft Office which provide experience utilizing spreadsheet & database applications.
  • Knowledge of inpatient and outpatient billing procedures for third party carriers and manage care.
  • Ability to effectively manage in a remote-work environment with multiple & changing priorities, under stressful demand while maintaining exceptional service.
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge of insurance plan pre-certification/authorization/referral requirements and processes.
  • Ability to manage a high call volume team in a call center environment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures as related to hospital billing codes.
  • Knowledge of electronic and UB-04 computerized billing systems, NUBC guidelines and inpatient/outpatient hospital reimbursement methodology.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships exercising courtesy and tact with physicians, patients, medical center staff, outside agencies, and the general public.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knowledge of Epic Revenue Cycle applications: Resolute Hospital Billing, Resolute Professional Billing, Single Business Office, Cadence, or Grand Central.
