Billing and Coding Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing and Coding Specialist to join our team. As a Billing and Coding Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately processing and submitting claims to insurance companies. Your role will involve utilizing your knowledge of behavioral health billing systems, coding, and terminology to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement for services provided.

Duties:
- Review and verify accuracy of patient demographic and insurance information, check and verify benefits and eligibility
- Enter charges into the billing system
- Assign appropriate codes and modifiers to diagnoses and procedures
- Submit claims electronically using company's EHR system or by mail
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims
- Resolve billing discrepancies or issues with insurance companies
- Communicate with patients regarding their billing questions or concerns
- Maintain patient records, billing statements and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations

Skills:
- Proficient in behavioral health billing systems, EHR and software
- Strong knowledge of behavioral coding principles and guidelines
- Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures
- Ability to interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
