Regular travel between Vineland, NJ and Wilmington, DE is required for this role as well as bilingual English/Spanish language skills.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE
The position is responsible for supervising the Quality Control program. as well the food safety policies and procedures of all the fruit that is received for Dole Fresh Fruit from Deciduous and Berries. Responsibilities will include monitoring quality and inventory rotation, conducting inspections and checking outbound order making sure they comply with Dole QA standard. Supervising third party QC teams and assist with resolution of quality and food safety issues.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION
- Supervise and Inspect fruit that arrives to the Port Location and outside Cold Storage when is needed.
- Make decisions based on the analysis of the fruit, applying basic knowledge of post-harvest and horticulture.
- Ability to utilize discretion, answer questions and make decisions in absence of Quality Control and Food Safety Manager.
- Work directly with sales team and operations to make decisions and answer questions regarding the fruit or any segregation of the fruit.
- Supervise repack operation offside location as needed.
- Commodity inspection of: table grapes, nectarines, peaches, plums, apples, pears, Asian pears, kiwi, berries and citrus.
- Must willing to travel to different regions is the US & Canada as needed.
- Analyze data regarding fruit inspections, such as size and maturity of fruit, percentage of defects, etc.
- Assist and support Food Safety Team and special projects as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills

- Excellent communication skills required.
- Knowledge of Deciduous, bush berries fruit, such as production, pre- and post-harvest fruit behavior, etc. required.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office; intermediate level Excel.
- Time-management, organizational skills and the ability to multi-task required.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
- Bilingual English and Spanish required.
- Ability to obtain a TWIC card required.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
- BA/BS Degree in Food Science, Agriculture or related field.
- Minimum 1-2 years of technical Agricultural experience required

- Ability to work various hours/days as needed more 40 hours as well per week weekends and holidays.
