Company Overview: VRS Disability Management is a New England based company focusing primarily on Workers’ Compensation. We perform a wide variety of services, such as Vocational Rehabilitation, Nurse Case Management, Fee Negotiations, and Hospital/Provider Audits.
Position Overview: This would be a hybrid position involving both Telephonic and Field Case Management. To enhance the quality of treatment rendered to individuals injured on the job; to maximize the efficiency of health care delivery; to promote cost effectiveness and to ensure injured workers are receiving expedient, optimal care and results. To assess, plan and implement transitional return-to-work when appropriate and to monitor and report on medical progress.
Workplace Environment: The Telephonic/Field Case Nurse Manager is based in a home office utilizing a computer, phone, and fax/scanner to collect, analyze, process, receive and transmit data. VRS will supply the technological tools necessary for home office set-up. All files and correspondence must be kept in a HIPAA safe environment within the home office. Telephonic/Field Case Nurse Managers also work in the field attending physician visits, interacting with employers, insurance adjusters, attorneys and other stakeholders as well as meeting the injured worker in their home or at an agreed upon public location: most typically at an MD appointment. The Telephonic/Field Case Nurse Manager must foster a cooperative relationship with a variety of individuals and situations in each case. The Telephonic/Field Case Nurse Manager may on occasion have to travel in inclement weather conditions utilizing good judgement to determine when it is not safe to proceed.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
· To coordinate care that is appropriate, timely, effective, and efficient for injured workers
· To handle case assignments, review case progress, suggest improvements in care planning and determine case closure
· To help injured workers achieve medical-end and return-to-work
· To facilitate multiple case aspects including case coordination with multiple treatment providers and information sharing
· To assist injured workers in making informed decisions regarding care options
· To develop effective and cooperative working relationships with the medical team throughout the case management process
· To record case information, completing forms and reports accurately and timely
· To promote appropriate and cost-effective interventions and outcomes
· To adhere to professional standards as outlined by protocols, rules, and regulations
· Responsible for patient care across multiple jurisdictions
Skills & Qualifications
· Licensed as an RN
· Experience with orthopedic, neurological, and soft tissue injuries
· Effective communication skills
· Excellent organizational and time-management skills
· Familiarity with emerging professional and technical research and knowledge
· Excellent multi-tasking and problem-solving skills
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and email
· Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record
· Ability to speak and understand Spanish fluently
