Position Summary
The Foster Parent Growth and Retention Coordinator is responsible for recruiting Foster Parents and families, which includes activities to bring awareness of the program to the community and build community relationships to recruit prospective Foster Parents for the assigned program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program's Mission, Values and Philosophies.
  • Conduct public relations activities in the assigned communities through attending in-person events, media, publications and other traditional and creative initiatives.
  • Work directly with the appropriate Director or her/his designee in producing flyers, advertising, and informational brochures for use in public relations activities.
  • Work directly with community leaders in fostering the mission of the assigned program.
  • Work directly with potential Foster Parents to complete all paperwork, seek all training opportunities, and meet all state pre-service training requirements.
  • Work directly with existing Foster Parents in the re-certification process by helping them maintain their eligibility to serve children as a Foster Parent with the National Youth Advocate Program.
  • Assist in the placement process and successful matching of youth and Foster Parents based on the needs of referred youth and the level of training, strengths and expertise of the foster family.
  • Develop and implement an ongoing foster home recruitment plan and submit monthly reports of community actions and response to the appropriate Director or her/his designee.
  • Maintain professional boundaries, conduct and confidentiality and other governmental laws and regulations, agency policy and licensure ethics.
  • Provide support to all members of the treatment team, including case managers, therapists, Foster Parents and youth to ensure needs are met and placement stability.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school in the behavioral/social sciences.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the area of youth services, preferably with direct experience in the area of child welfare, or foster care recruitment and training.
  • This position requires the candidate to be self-starter, self-managed professional who can achieve outcomes by utilizing good judgement, innovation and flexibility.
  • Knowledgeable of foster care rules and the services provided by the National Youth Advocate Program and have experience working with youth in out-of-home care.
  • Must have the ability to speak publicly regarding the mission of the National Youth Advocate Program and most specifically the Foster Care program.
  • Current license as required by state law and/or regulatory bodies.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish fluency.
  • Driving personal vehicle in the performance of this job is required. Must have a valid driver's license, vehicle in good working order, and insurance with $100,000/$300,000 limits.
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, internet search, people management programs, smart phones and tablets, printers, fax machines and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.

OTHER SKILLS
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours with a possibility of being on call on nights/weekends, in the service of foster caregivers, families of origin, and persons served.
