Forklift Spotter

Job Overview:
We are seeking a diligent and safety-conscious individual to fill the role of Forklift Spotter and Yard Assistant. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the safe movement of forklifts through a dynamic self-service yard environment, which includes navigating around cars, people, obstacles, and challenging terrain. In addition to guiding forklift operators, this role involves assisting with various tasks around the yard and providing guidance to customers who may be unfamiliar with the layout.

Key Responsibilities:

Forklift Safety Spotting:

• Work closely with forklift operators to identify and communicate potential hazards, obstacles, and safe pathways.
• Monitor forklift movement and intervene when necessary to prevent accidents or collisions.
• Maintain clear communication with forklift operators to ensure safe navigation through the yard.

Yard Assistance:

• Assist with the organization and movement of materials within the yard, including loading and unloading vehicles.
• Perform general maintenance tasks such as cleaning, sweeping, and debris removal to ensure a safe and organized work environment.
• Collaborate with other team members to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.

Visitor Guidance:

• Serve as a point of contact for visitors entering the junkyard, providing directions and assistance as needed.
• Offer guidance to individuals who appear lost or confused, helping them navigate the yard safely.
• Communicate yard rules and safety regulations to visitors to promote a secure environment for all.

Qualifications:

• Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively convey information to forklift operators and visitors.
• Excellent situational awareness and a keen eye for potential hazards.
• Physical stamina and the ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to changing priorities.
• A commitment to safety and adherence to established protocols and procedures.
