Job Summary:
Reporting to the Pre-Service Family Support Services Program Manager and working closely with Clark County DFS, the Family Support Trainer 2 provides necessary pre-service training live and remote, as well as specialized training for the pre-service process toward becoming a licensed foster parent. The position requires 2-4 years of training/education experience, with related experience in child development, social services, youth, and/or Family Support sector. Additionally, the FS Trainer 2 will become a Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) practitioner utilizing principles of the approach in working with diverse families. The Trainer may also provide referrals and group support to families as needed. Skill leading discussions and activities with classes of 10-20 people, ensuring the delivery of the curriculum objectives is necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide pre-service training live and remote, to foster families and caregivers by establishing Clark County government DFS training. 
  • Deliver and develop training curriculum with trauma-informed lens, cultural competency, and to non-native English speakers. Weekends and/or evenings may be required, as is the care and set-up of training space while remaining a partner and liaison for Raise and DFS. 
  • Skillful at engaging large class groups (10-20), leading training activities, answering inquiries, and managing training feedback. 
  • Complete initial TBRI® practitioner training and apply lens in classroom and program development. 
  • Mentor and train onboarding FST1 trainers and caregivers on TBRI principles within scope.    
  • Implement training goals in partnership with DFS and involve hands-on guidance, feedback, goal setting, flexibility, program implementation, and action planning.   
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager and Clark County Department of Family Services to identify the training needs of Caregivers. 
  • Document training administration, assessment, and progress within the organization’s database while providing timely data to DFS partners as required.

Related Industry/Area of Expertise Required:
  • Education/Youth & Family/Human Services PreferredAbility and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed care.
  • An understanding of adult learning theory for delivering training.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively build rapport with diverse populations.
  • Local travel and evening or weekend work required; must have dependable transportation and be insurable as a driver on the auto liability policy.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • BA required, with an advanced degree in a related field preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish-speaking preferred.
  • Experience working with families and youth with trauma histories.
  • Highly organized with proven attention to detail and deadline-oriented.
  • Technology: able to troubleshoot projection and computer equipment in training space, ability to adapt training content to live, remote platforms.
  • Self-starter: demonstrates initiative and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, in-person and remotely.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, the Internet, Zoom, Teams, and various online training platforms.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 
  • Experience in classroom training.
  • Parenting support experience is a plus.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking.
  • Experience working with children with trauma histories.
  • Self-starter: demonstrates initiative and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Salary Range: $54,000 - $56,000
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
This position works primarily in a typical office environment, mostly an indoor office environment with windows, with office equipment noise, and may include frequent interruptions. These job duties may be performed in a work-from-home setting. This position also may require you to attend meetings with clients, and stakeholders in other settings outside the office. Considerable time is spent sitting at a desk using a computer terminal, and telephone, and attending meetings with others.
