Description
Boulder County Community Services Department is seeking to hire a Bilingual Crisis Interventionist. The Crisis Interventionist (CI) will provide effective, evidenced-based crisis intervention, assessment, psychoeducation and brief supportive counseling to individuals (0 to 25) and families who are in emotional distress. The Crisis Interventionist will interact with clients by phone and in-person. The CI will also provide referrals and follow-up for community members affected by behavioral health issues; as well as outreach and engagement services to ensure affected individuals and families are aware of our crisis services and know how to access these services.
To ensure success as a Crisis Interventionist, you should be compassionate, empathetic and possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
As this is a new program for the County, you will also be creating and helping implement a brand new and innovative crisis response service for this community that is truly innovative, transformative and anti-oppressive in nature.
This is a full- time benefited position. This is a term limited position with an anticipated end of December 25th, 2026. This position will work Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm with flexibility at 3482 Broadway Street in Boulder, CO. Under FLSA guidelines this position is exempt.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
2023 Hiring Salary Range: $64,764.00 - $79,002.00 Annually
2024 Hiring Salary Range: $67,032.00 - $81,768.00 Annually
Tentative Hiring Timeline:
  • Phone Screening: December 6th
  • First Round Interviews: December 11th

  • Language Proficiency Test: December 18th
  • Reference Check: December 18th

New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month. Boulder County offers bountiful benefits, including pension contributions. (remove this for hourly and Head Start positions)

Examples of Duties
  1. Provide crisis intervention to individuals and families who are in emotional distress, and who present with a variety of issues including mental health diagnoses, substance use issues, and/or other psychosocial challenges
  2. Responds to referrals for mobile crisis response and supportive services from the Boulder County Mobile Crisis Response Program
  3. Conduct screening, intakes, and assessments of clients utilizing required instruments and formats within appropriate timelines
  4. Deliver services to clients in their homes or other settings in the community
  5. Answers the telephone, provides information, takes messages, and/or directs calls as appropriate
  6. Assess immediate safety of the client and the environment; assist with safety planning and brainstorming available options
  7. Provide symptom management, identify support systems, reduce, and mitigate risk factors
  8. Works with client's family to assist them in understanding and dealing with the client's problems
  9. Provide community engagement services including outreach to underserved areas in the community
  10. Provides referrals both internally and externally in response to needs presented by each client. Offer information and warm handoffs when possible
  11. Maintain close and cooperative relationships with the community and other public agencies to carry out service plans
  12. Respond to calls for service and collaborate with law enforcement, partnering agencies, external providers, and community members to provide triage, crisis intervention, assess needs and provide resources
  13. Maintain and manage accurate and timely clinical records, data collection and documentation as required
  14. Maintain training, education, and best practices by attending training, conferences, and other opportunities for continuing education
  15. Participate in clinical supervision as directed
  16. Embrace principles of equitable and compassionate care for people with behavioral health challenges
  17. Utilizes active listening skills and cultural competence to ascertain each patient's needs. Make allowances for cultural beliefs when providing services
  18. Adhere to existing professional ethical standards
  19. Adhere to legal regulations related to services provided

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of relevant education and experience is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a Human Behavioral Science and two years of lived or professional behavioral health experience.
