POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clinician for the Unaccompanied Children's (UC) Shelter provides a wide range of therapeutic services to youth in the program including assessments, counseling and crisis intervention. This position's primary duty is work that requires advanced knowledge in the field of psychology or social work. The Clinician is a grant position related solely to the Unaccompanied Children's Shelter as funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement and any successor funding.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides individual and group therapy according to individual needs;
  • Completes all necessary clinical paperwork, including but not limited to mental health assessments, service plans, comprehensive progress reports and discharge summaries, while adhering to established timelines and all licensing and accreditation standards;
  • Participates in completing outcome measurements;
  • Provides crisis intervention as needed;
  • Assesses the placement and service needs, and serves as an advocate for the client to assure appropriateness of placement and services;
  • Participates in utilization review as requested;
  • Actively seeks supervision and utilizes supervisory input;
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Experience:
  • Graduate degree (Master's or Doctorate) from an accredited MSW or clinical program;
  • Experience providing clinical services to a child and adolescent population is preferred;
  • Clinical license preferred or ability to pursue one.

Skills /Knowledge:
  • Bilingual English/Spanish language competency required;
  • Must conduct oneself in an ethical and professional manner.

Physical Demands:
  • Required to lift/ move objects and/or youth weighing in excess of 40 pounds;
  • Must possess ability to provide physical restraint to youth;
  • Must have visual, hearing, and learning capabilities sufficient to perform the essential functions defined above.

Environment and Scheduling:
  • Work is performed in, and in association with, Maryville program settings
  • Duties involve contact with youth who may be traumatized;
  • Must be flexible and available to work additional hours when necessary;
  • May be scheduled to work 1 day a weekend and/or holidays.

All employees who have access to health information whose confidentiality is protected by the HIPAA Privacy Rule are required by the Rule to receive training so that they have an understanding and knowledge of the Privacy Rule that corresponds to their job responsibilities and of the group health plan's policies and procedures that impact on their job duties. Site specific training on requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Rule and the plan's health information policies and procedures under the direction of the plan privacy officer may be required for this position based upon site specific requirements. Employees who violate the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Rule will be subject to discipline, up to and including termination.
