Operations Coordinator

The Operations Coordinator will play a key role within both Training and Operations. He or she will use their passion for people, technical knowledge of operations, and continuous improvement efforts to help aid in the supervision of training new employees assigned to the floor.

This position will rotate 12/hr. nights (3 on, 3 off and 3 on).

Responsibilities:

  • Works to establish collaborative relationships with Training, Manufacturing, Logistics, and other departments as necessary to meet the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Works hands-on to train and develop new employees assigned to floor.
  • Able to make necessary decisions to help influence the development of team members assigned to the floor.
  • Works to help develop stronger relationships with new employees on the floor and management.
  • Ensures that all team members are adequately trained and clearly understand the process instructions, ensuring that the process is correctly applied in the right order; avoid taking short cuts that affect the process integrity.
  • Ensures employees follow proper work procedures, proper use of tools and equipment, safety rules and quantity standards.
  • Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.
  • Investigates incidents and reports findings.
  • Partners with Manufacturing to ensure the highest level of quality and safety standards are met, while achieving operational efficiencies.
  • Seeks understanding of Manufacturing constraints and capacities and works to drive improvements.
  • Helps identify and prioritize improvements within training of new employees on the floor.
  • Oversees personnel actions and most day-to-day operations of team.
  • Maybe required to approve time sheets for hourly employees, production summaries, overtime, and downtime reports.
  • Leads efforts to maintain operational goals (achieving adequate lead times, inventory levels and production efficiencies).
  • Monitors deviations from the production plan and initiates corrective action in a timely manner.
  • Provide accurate and timely communication of production shortages or delays.
  • Identify issues that may impact customer satisfaction and engage the appropriate departments to quickly resolve the issues.
  • Clearly defines responsibilities and expectations for each team member newly assigned to the floor.
  • Motivates and encourages superior performance. - Leads by Example!
  • Make continuous improvement apart of mission, driving change at all levels.
  • Champions problem solving.
  • Acts as the focal point of communications of the team, centralizing the information related to the work.
  • Keeps management aware of team’s progress, needs, etc.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma is required, Associates Degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ direct experience in manufacturing (film, paper or graphic arts industry is preferred).
  • Fluency in Spanish is required.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities and multiple communication channels.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and can speak with all levels within the organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel / Access is a plus.
  • Experience and proficiency in SAP are a plus.
  • Strong analytical, systems and numeracy skills with capability to master complexity.
  • Demonstrated bias for continuous improvement, problem solving, change management.
  • Must be able to work as an individual contributor or as a team environment.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making ability.
  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively influence across levels and functions.
  • Strong customer focus (internal & external).
  • Detail-oriented with understanding of big picture.
