Job Description

Bi-Lingual Contract Counselors, Remote-Work from Home Office-US Based Positions

Counslr is a B2B, digital mental health platform providing 24/7/365 text-based mental health support to students and employees at universities, corporations, and healthcare institutions. Users are able to engage in live chat sessions with licensed counselors, on-demand or by scheduled appointment, within the Counslr mobile app. Our community of licensed Mental Health Professionals aim to make quality mental health support readily available, easily accessible, and socially acceptable 24/7/365.

Our Mission

Our mission is to improve the accessibility of quality mental health support, in order to reach the traditionally unreachable and give people more agency in prioritizing their mental health.

Our Culture

Happy, healthy and resilient people make the world a better place! Built upon empathy as a core value, Counslr has cultivated a culture of wellbeing where team members feel valued, motivated, and empowered to bring their best selves to work. We are committed to a compassionate, diverse and inclusive workplace where all are encouraged to achieve their full potential.

Counslr believes a mentally healthy workforce is the foundation for individual and organizational success. Counslr has created a community of like-minded professionals that are passionate about maximizing mental wellness to help people lead healthier, happier and more resilient lives.

Position Summary

For these 1099 contract roles, Counselors must be proficient in English as well as written Arabic or Spanish. The role of the Counselor is to provide the most professional, ethical and compassionate help to clients on the Counslr platform. Utilizing our HIPAA and FERPA compliant platform, Counselors provide text-based support but do not engage in directive, text-based counseling or therapy.

Counselors guide their clients, helping them to seek solutions to a wide range of problems rather than instructing them to take a specific approach or path. Counselors listen empathically, provide assistance in clarifying and reframing complex situations, engage in text based discussions while offering suggestions, not directions, and provide a range of helpful resources including coping skills, common practices and other helpful resources based on their training and experience and available research in the mental health field. This role requires the ability to concentrate while multi-tasking.

Support Services refers to the mental health support services provided by Counselors to Users through the Platform. Support Services offered to Users through the Counslr platform are designed and intended only to provide education to support self advocacy and promote accountability, goal setting, and problem solving. Decision making resources are also provided when appropriate. Support Services do not constitute or imply the practice of medicine, counseling, therapy or any other health care service that must be delivered through a licensed clinician in the state in which the User is located.

Additionally, contract work for research, white papers, media inquiries, social media posts and presentations may be available.

Role Responsibilities

  • Deliver Mental Wellness Support - Counselors will use their education, training, experience and professional knowledge to work unsupervised providing quality mental health support via text in either written Arabic or Spanish.
  • Provide undivided attention while offering thoughtful and empathic support during sessions.
  • Effectively communicate via written, text-based messaging, using proper grammar and punctuation.
  • Record brief session notes in a standardized format within the Counslr platform.
  • Be comfortable and familiar with appropriate steps for dealing with an emergency situation and be able to intervene in a crisis and engage in suicide prevention procedures.
  • Maintain User confidentiality.
  • Communicate with Counslr Management regarding questions, concerns, and suggestions.
  • Refer users to counseling resources such as school-specific and/or corporate resources, if needed and when possible.
  • Commit and complete work shifts as selected.

Working Conditions

The work is completely remote. Counselors can Work from any safe location where they will not be interrupted, such as their home, office or another private area with a strong and secure internet connection.

Counselors can conveniently utilize their own home computer/laptop to actively engage in live text support sessions with Users through our secure web platform. These 45 minute sessions (scheduled or on-demand) function very much like face-to-face sessions, but they take place entirely within a text-based chat on the Counslr platform.

Prior to going active, all Counselors participate in an orientation program in order to develop a thorough understanding of our mission, approach, standards, services and to learn how to use the Counslr platform.

Counselors set their own work hours! Shifts are 3 hours long. Counselors can work as few as 3 hours per week and a maximum of 24 hours per week.

Our compensation scale is market competitive! We provide a base hourly rate for idle time and in-session time. We provide a shift differential for non-traditional/off-peak hours, too. Occasionally we offer paid, optional opportunities to work on special projects, such as white papers, blogs, industry interviews, etc. We also have a malpractice insurance reimbursement program for Counselors.
