BHRS MHP - Posting #23-031
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
BHRS MHP's may provide the following for eligible individuals incarcerated or court involved:
  • Triage - Solicit regular updates from jail/juvenile corrections staff regarding the status of new and existing individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI)/Severely Emotionally Disturbed (SED). Accept referrals for services from various corrections, professional, and family sources. Assist corrections staff to identify and monitor high-risk individuals to coordinate care with appropriate inpatient mental health facilities. Screen individuals for high-risk behaviors, safety needs, and vulnerability. Triage individuals and prioritize needs for medication evaluation, follow up, and treatment services according to safety and risk.
  • Assessment and Treatment - Direct crisis management and suicide risk assessment. Behavioral health assessment, mental health treatment planning, treatment services, referral to psychiatric services, and coordination of care with relevant professionals. Screen for substance use disorders (SUD) and when indicated, coordinate SUD assessments. Arrangement of civil commitment evaluation by a Designated Crisis Responder, when indicated. Coordination of therapeutic/behavioral response plan with medical/corrections staff as appropriate. Coordinate care with the individual's current health care providers.
  • Medical Records Keeping - The BHRS MHP shall maintain documentation of behavioral health services provided to individuals and Central Medical Record to include assessments including suicide risk assessments, individual care plans, individualized case notes, screening tools, releases of information, as needed,
  • Professional Development and Quality -
  • Monitor all ethical and safety concerns and report them immediately.
  • Maintain full and open communication with the BHRS Clinical Supervisor, promoting communication and information between the team members, and other agency staff in delivery of services.
  • Ensure that service provides continuous quality and understanding of the national standards for the National Commission of Correctional Health Care that addresses both client needs and compliance with WACs, RCWs, RSN, Medicaid, and Federal Regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Lifeline Connections policies and contracts.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
  • Master's level education in a behavioral health field and meeting the qualifications as a Mental Health Professional as defined by WAC and RCW.
  • Licensed in the State of Washington as a LMHC, LMFT, or LICSW preferred.
  • Individual must obtain and maintain licensure from the WA Department of Health.
  • Have strong clinical skills and demonstrated experience to ensure robust engagement with people who have criminogenic attitudes. Having skills and competence to establish supportive trusting relationships with persons with SMI or SED.
  • Respect for patient rights and personal preferences in treatment.
  • Demonstrated experience at providing a safe and supportive environment for individuals with SMI or SED.
  • Valid Driver's license for the state of Washington.

Salary: $29.50 - $33.50/hr DOE
