Overview

The Benefits and Leave Administrator is responsible for leave requests and accommodations for Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Washington Paid Family and Medical Leave (WAPFML), and short-term and long-term disability plans. Working collaboratively with the benefits team, they will act as a resource for all employee benefits related questions.

Main Job Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent, professional, and timely service to staff in keeping with PCC customer service standards.
  • Provides support and guidance to staff regarding their leave and/or modified work schedule. Ensures that staff understands their qualifications and responsibility throughout the process.
  • Maintains consistent communication with employees on leave to facilitate a smooth and timely return to work, and relays communication between employees and their managers during leave within reason.
  • Advises managers and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, workers' compensation, and short-term and long-term disability benefits.
  • Oversees the return-to-work process for employees returning from extended FMLA, workers' compensation, or other leave(s).
  • Facilitates other leave requests, which may include accommodation requests under the ADA.
  • Administers other company time-off programs as assigned in accordance with internal policy and applicable laws.
  • Keeps up to date with revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.
  • Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.
  • Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws.
  • Supports administering new hire employee benefits, life event changes, and job changes, annual open enrollment, and ACA compliance and 1095C distribution.
  • Assists the benefits team in maintaining all benefit contracts and service agreements.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Skills

Required:
  • Extensive knowledge of the leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of recent (2020-present) leave of absence-related experience.
  • Knowledge of Washington State Paid Family and Medical Leave (WAPFML).
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and problem-solve with excellent attention to detail.
  • Intermediate level of computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with the ability to be self-directed and self-motivated.

Preferred:
  • Minimum 1-of 2 years employee benefits experience preferred.
  • Written and verbal Spanish language proficiency preferred.
  • Experience working with large databases required, Ceridian Dayforce experience preferred.
