Behavioral Support Specialist (BSS)

Wednesday - Saturday - 10-hour days

7:00 am - 5:30 pm

$21.00 - $30.74 per hour, plus a $1.25/hr. for working in our

Special Needs Communities

$1000 Sign-on Bonus

ABOUT GATEWAY ADULT RESIDENTIAL CARE

We are an affiliated group of three 24/7 residential care providers. Our facilities provide care for adults struggling with mental health issues, Dementia and Alzheimer's, brain injury, challenging behaviors, and aging-related needs. We are a sanctuary for these individuals and work hard to care for and serve them with compassion.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

As a BSS in our facility, you will work as a member of an interdisciplinary team to support and monitor residents living within a residential care facility while supporting a Trauma-Informed Care environment. With the high prevalence of trauma among individuals receiving mental health services, it is required the BSS understand the effects of trauma on health, coping, and other aspects of the lives of those we serve. The BSS must have the ability to work independently in the community, providing skills training to our residents. This position involves participation and implementation of program goals and objectives to promote a strengths-based, client-centered approach to assisting residents in achieving individual goals and ultimately transitioning to a less restrictive setting.

Education and Experience preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science field from an accredited college or university
  • Three years of full-time professional experience working with adults with severe and persistent mental illness
  • Certified as a QMHA or BSS training
  • Experience and knowledge of current federal and state healthcare/assisted living/residential care facility rules and practices, preferred
