Greater Oregon Behavioral Health, Inc. (GOBHI) has an immediate opening for a Behavioral Health & Justice Specialist. This position will be based out of the employee’s home office, which can be located within the State of Oregon.
This position will be responsible as part of a team for development and implementation of duties associated with the Oregon Center on Behavioral Health and Justice Integration, also known as “The Center.” Key areas will include providing information, facilitation, training and technical assistance for those working in Oregon’s Behavioral Health and justice systems with an emphasis on building upon and supporting the local work for jail diversion/fitness to proceed programs, along with our CIT (Crisis Intervention Training) and/or SIM (Sequential Intercept Model) programs.
Essential duties include:
- Maintaining positive and productive relationships with collaborative partners; ongoing needs for effective delivery of services; and overall operation in keeping with the standards of a “Center of Excellence.”
- Convenes internal and external stakeholder groups of various sizes to present and discuss information related to the Center’s goals, objectives, successes, and continuous improvement.
- Develop programs and completes all necessary contractually required reports and supplemental documents for contracting funder(s).
- Assist in the organization and promotion of CIT and/or SIM program as well as enhancing the quality of the training and its depth and reach throughout Oregon.
- Collaborates with DPSST to create consistency in the delivery of CIT for the state.
- Develop and facilitate trainings, manage projects for jail diversion/fitness to proceed, CIT, SIM programs.
- Develop and present requested conferences and trainings.
- Coordinate smaller more focused trainings for other professionals involved with criminal justice process, such as probation/parole officers, dispatchers, and EMS.
- Enhances community awareness about the goals and purpose of the Center, as well as follows state mandates and protocols.
- Drives to meetings or other GOBHI locations as needed
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What is needed to succeed in this role:
- Three years’ experience in developing and training professionals; knowledge of and experience with the criminal justice system, programs and issues with law enforcement, general knowledge of Behavioral Health programs,
- Three years’ specialized experience in project management, launching statewide initiatives or community organizing with an emphasis in Behavioral Health or criminal justice preferred,
- Crisis Intervention Training experience preferred,
- Ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels,
- Possesses a growth-mindset and is able to find innovative solutions to problems collaboratively,
- Technology Savvy – proficient in Microsoft Office software and/or Google Suites software,
- Strong planning and organizational skills,
- Effective presentation skills – including public speaking and meeting facilitation,
- Maintains good driving record and required vehicle insurance,
- Education – Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, criminal justice or other related field or equivalent experience in lieu of degree,
- Bilingual Spanish skills preferred.
