This is a grant funded position for up to 30 weeks or a maximum of 600 hours. Hours worked to be determined by incumbent. Not eligible for City benefits.
Telework is allowed but in office hours will be required at various times.
The Lincoln Police Department, with the assistance of the City of Lincoln/Lancaster County Health Department, are working to create a Co-Responder program. Co-Responder team programs follow a police-based model for Crisis Response that partners trained police officers and mental health professionals to respond appropriately and safely to people experiencing mental health crises.
This position will assist in creating a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Co-Responder program for the Lincoln Police Department and City of Lincoln/Lancaster County Health Department. The RFP process is to find the provider who will operate the Co-Responder program, including hiring Clinicians who will respond to calls with LPD Officers Work requires expert knowledge of clinical social work, Behavioral Health, case management, management practices, determining metrics for data collection and analysis, writing policies and procedures and program development.
Nature of Work/Examples of Work Performed
Develop a request for proposal for a Behavioral Health agency to serve in the capacity of mental health response supporting law enforcement in implementation of a co-responder program.
Hold routine meetings with Lincoln Police Department designated personnel to discuss and plan for the development and implementation of the co-responder program.
Provide subject matter expertise in assisting the Lincoln Police Department in their final determination of the Behavioral Health agency.
Performs related work as required.
Desirable Knowledge, Abilities & Skills/Desirable Training & Experience
Understanding of law enforcement and Behavioral Health collaboration.
Understanding of laws, implementation of law, and the ability to educate others on such.
Ability to create and manage ongoing relations for collaboration.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Knowledge of community resources.
Minimum Qualifications/Necessary Special Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology or related field from an accredited college or university.
A minimum of one (1) year of experience in crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation, working with individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental illness and/or other at-risk populations.
Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP)
No Felonies. A comprehensive background check will be conducted on the top candidate.
To be eligible for insurance benefits, employees must work at least 30 hours per week.
To be eligible for the retirement plan, employees must work at least 20 hours per week.
Temporary, seasonal, and unclassified employees are not eligible for benefits.
