The Chinatown Service Center (CSC) is a nonprofit organization providing multilingual health and social services, employment training, and counseling in Greater Los Angeles. CSC'S BH COUNSELOR- LEVEL II'S PURPOSE:
Provide individual, group, and/or family therapy to clients and/or families; provide clinical assessment, field-based, and outreach services to clients and their families; case management and advocacy services.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide strengths-based, family-centered therapeutic services, including individual, family, and group therapy.
- Assess and monitor client and family progress, adjusting treatment as needed.
- Collaborate with the Department of Children and Family Services and the Multi-disciplinary team.
- Deliver services in the community or field, meeting program and funding source requirements.
- Maintain client files in compliance with agency policy, showing cultural and linguistic needs sensitivity.
- Interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Meet Agency requirements for billing reimbursable services.
- Attend staff meetings, contribute to program development, and participate in community outreach with the BHD Prevention team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's or Doctorate Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or Psychology.
- Licensed-eligible: board-registered MFT-Intern, ASW, MSW, or Licensed professional.
- 1-2 years' postgraduate experience with adolescents and families in various therapeutic modalities.
- Knowledge of social, cultural, and intergenerational dynamics of Chinese/Asian immigrants and refugees.
- Effective communication and relationship-building skills with children, youth, and families.
- Bilingual/bicultural knowledge in English and Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is required.
- Possession of a valid California driver's license and insurable driving record.
- Availability to work some evenings and weekends.
- Successfully meet the post-offer/pre-hire physical and DMV Driving Record Search for insurability by our Carrier’s requirements and receive an “Eligible for Employment” status for Level II Background Check required by the State of California.
