ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Provides educational resources, training, technical assistance to site administrator, special education teachers, related service, and support staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of behavior management systems designed to meet the needs of students with autism and other behavioral challenges, in accordance with all directives, standards, procedures, policies, laws, rules, regulations, codes and guidelines;
- Conducts functional behavior assessments and presents data to IEP teams;
- Develops Behavior Intervention programs and monitors implementation within the classroom;
- Collects data via direct student observation and consultation with classroom teachers regarding student behaviors and recommends appropriate instructional modifications to support positive student behavior. Identifies and implements appropriate interventions for students in need of additional assistance;
- Plans and oversees the development and implementation of programs, policies and best practices related to instruction using the principles of ABA for students with autism and other disabilities;
- Utilizes, models, and teaches Discreate Trial as part of the daily instruction program;
- Utilizes, models, and teaches the TEACCH Autism Program foundations for establishing structured learning environments (physical structure, schedules, work systems, and visual supports);
- Utilizes, models, and teaches proactive strategies and de-escalation techniques;
- Utilizes, models, and supports Augmentative and Alternative Communication Systems (AAC) as determined by the IEP Team;
- Teaches social skills for replacement behaviors that contribute to disruptive, challenging behaviors that also includes self-regulation strategies;
- Works with the IEP Team to establish routines and procedures created for students, based in functions of behavior data and strategies as well as effective, researched-based instructional prompting procedures;
- Keeps current with issues, laws and regulations regarding positive Behavior Interventions, special education, educational trends, and other issues related to children with exceptional needs;
- Documents program results, maintains accurate records and other required data, prepares and submits reports in a timely manner;
- Consults with administrators, psychologists, teachers, related service, and families, serve as an integral member of the IEP team, and attends meetings and parent conferences, as needed;
- Serves as a resource to provide formal and informal training, supervision, guidance and assistance to students, educators, parents, service providers and agencies, as needed;
- Ascribes to the philosophy that all children can succeed and demonstrates the commitment to do what is necessary to make this a reality;
- Demonstrates exceptional skill in the roles of a school leader: collaborator, action researcher, reflective practitioner, and learner advocate;
- Performs other duties as assigned by the administration.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree is required, preferably in a related field (i.e., psychology, behavior analysis, behavior modification) is preferred.
- Minimum of three years of previous experience with individuals with behavioral challenges is preferred.
- Specialty certificate in Applied Behavioral Analysis is preferred.
- Successful human relationship skills as evidenced by previous work experience.
