TITLE:? Special Education Intervention Specialist?(paraprofessional)
This is a student support position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Hold an Idaho Standard Instructional Certificate with endorsement for Special Education

OR
  • Hold a Habilitative Intervention Certificate (HI COC) in Idaho with an expiration date of July 1, 2019, or later without a gap of more than 3 years of employment as an Intervention Specialist.

OR
  • Bachelor's degree in a human services field (Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Nursing, Child Development/Human Education, etc.)

AND
  • Demonstrate 1,040 hours of supervised experience working with children who demonstrate functional or behavioral needs.

AND
  • Meet competency checklist or have completed 40-hours of Applied Behavior Analysis training with documentation.
  1. Emotionally mature and stable.
  1. Ability to work with staff, students, and the public.
  1. Previous experience working with children and adolescents.
  1. Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
  1. Able to perform assigned tasks.
  1. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

    ?JOB GOALS:
    ?
    To assist students with functional and/or behavior needs by implementing services as prescribed by the Individual Education Plan or Behavior Intervention Plan.

?ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Delivers interventions in the area of appropriate school related behaviors and/or interpersonal skills.
  1. Collects and reports progress data to supervisor.
  1. Attend school meetings concerning assigned students.
  1. Assists students in organizing materials and class assignments.
  1. ?Listens and resolves student issues and/or refers to the Building Principal.
  1. Provides prompts to assist student in managing behavior.
  1. Furnishes guidelines and prompts to assist the student in appropriate social behavior.
  1. Functions as a member of a team of people providing assistance to the student.
  1. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  1. Has regular and predictable attendance.
