The Battery Tech Lead is responsible for leading the Maintenance Battery team. (S)he will oversee the repairing and recharging electric storage batteries at multiple AZ facilities, including, but not limited to, the maintenance functions of all battery related operations including standard inspections and preventative.
Essential Duties:
- Washing all batteries on an ongoing schedule.
- Removing and replacing battery connectors and contact tips.
- Adding water to obtain specified concentration.
- Attaching leads from charger to battery posts and starting charger.
- Makes minor repairs to battery cables.
- Maintains proper rotation of batteries.
- Operates transfer cart to change batteries in and out of equipment.
- Safely cleaning up electrolyte spills.
- Utilizes the Associate Involvement System (AIS)
- Supports level I training
- Maintains parts and supply inventory
- Performs lead casting (cable heads to cable) and installs lugs to cables
- Attaches leads from charger to battery posts and starts charger
- Reads meters and adjusts rheostat to control flow of current through battery.
- Maintains batter wash equipment
- Performs basic cell diagnosis to all types of batteries
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or certificate from technical school
- 2+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be flexible and willing to work the demands of the department which may be subject to evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to frequently reach up to 31-77 inches.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Regularly stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Regularly reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, or crawl
