Batch Operator Day Shift

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Correctly enter information into batch programmable logic control panel keypad.
• Read and document batch temperatures using an optical pyrometer and infrared unit.
• Inspect batch interiors between runs for damage and document information.
• Following a production schedule, load and unload batch carbonization furnaces with Pyron feedstock, fabrics and yarns utilizing a load fixture, lifting cradle and crane.
• Unstack product, pull samples and move to QC holding area using a pallet jack.
• Document information and assorted paperwork.
• Inspect equipment and product for potential problems and report to foreman immediately.
• Keep equipment and work area clean and organized.
• Be knowledgeable of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety procedures, including emergency shut-down, power loss and evacuation procedures.
• Wind Panex and Pyron fabric.
• Cross train on Ox’s when time permits.
• Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from high school or a GED is required
• Experience of 1 year or more in manufacturing or a factory environment is strongly desired
• Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations, read and interpret documents, follow procedures, document information, communicate effectively with shift lead and co-workers
• Ability to troubleshoot and take effective corrective action to resolve problems

Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:

• Remove boxes up to 50 lbs. from scale and properly close and seal for shipment.
• Job involves lifting, turning, bending, reaching, pulling, walking and standing for extended periods of time.
• Ability to operate a forklift
• Must be able to wear respirator and be clean shaven.

• The atmosphere contains airborne particles. Employee must be able to wear the following PPE while performing this job: full-face respirator, hearing protection, full Tyvek suit and gloves.
