JOB SUMMARY
Under limited supervision, records scores of basketball games, keeps accurate time of games and possibly announce starting lineups.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Help with any pre-game set-up of scorer’s table.
- Check operation of scoreboard
- Record team names, dates, team rosters, etc. in scorebook
- Record each point scored, personal fouls, etc. in scorebook and/or scoreboard.
- Record quarters played for player eligibility.
- Accurate display of the possession arrow
- Ensure that game results are recorded and signed by the officials.
- Help with any post-game breakdown of scorer’s table, and cleaning if necessary.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school graduate preferred but minimum age is 16 years old. Knowledge of various sports and their rules is beneficial.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- No experience necessary but a general knowledge of basketball rules is preferred.
- Should understand basketball terminology.
- Have the ability to announce starting lineups, if possible
- Must be able to communicate effectively with officials and coaches.
- Have the ability to operate an electronic scoreboard.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is similar to an office setting. The ability to lift or move equipment up to 20 pounds.
