POSITION SUMMARY:
Coaches will work closely with the Sports Director and Director of Basketball Operations/Head Coach and on player development, curriculum execution, equipment maintenance and inventory, and various marketing & promotion campaigns that aim to drive the success and visibility of the club.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Create, lead, and execute effective practice plans within club curriculum and standards for age-appropriate development
- Lead teams in competition, making in-game adjustments in the best interest of team and player success
- Implement offensive and defensive strategies within a team playbook
- Provide clear and concise communications to parents and players
- Assist in player recruitment efforts, tryout assessments, and player evaluation process
- Uphold club values and mission, always representing the club in a positive light
- Assess competitors and club-attended events
- Participate in planning/strategic/staff meetings
- Track and report on player development in club meetings, player evaluations, and parent meetings as necessary
- Various other duties as required by the Sports Director and Director of Basketball Operations
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Sports related associate degree or higher
- 3+ years Travel and/or AAU Basketball Coaching experience required
- Playing experience (collegiate/competitive level preferred)
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to work flexible schedules including mostly weeknights for practices, weekends (games - home/away tournaments and/or leagues), and some holidays
- Experience motivating, inspiring, and mentoring youth athletes
- Must not simultaneously be employed by a competing club or organization deemed to be in direct conflict with Iron Peak Yeti and radius to venue
- Preferred experience in coaching High School and College sports
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds waist high
- Will be required to stand, stoop, bend, or sit for extended periods of time
- Venue has intermittent noise, normal in nature
