Job Title: Baseball Development Systems Coordinator

Position Overview
As the Baseball Development Systems Coordinator (BDSC) you will work closely with Baseball Development personnel to advance the mission of the department via fortification and improvement of daily production processes and information flow. You will work cross-departmentally within Research and Information (Baseball Development, Research & Development and Integrative Baseball Performance), in addition to interfacing with major league and player development coaches and support staff to optimize processes and report schemes. The position is based in Philadelphia.
Responsibilities
- Support ML Strategy and PD analysts via improvement of existing platforms and development of proprietary applications to be used directly by Baseball Development, ML and PD field staff
- Strategically facilitate continuity, scalability and trickle-down of key organizational tenets, models and tools from the major leagues through player development
- Collaborate cross-departmentally within R&I regarding the design and technical specifications of software and automation solutions for Baseball Development, and work to implement them
- Help to augment the technical knowledge of the entire Baseball Development department via training, mentorship and support on the use of all proprietary applications and tools
- In tandem with Baseball Operations leadership, plan, prioritize, and implement short, medium and long-term projects that will help advance the mission of Baseball Development and support users across the organization
- Regularly interface with relevant product users (ML Strategy and PD analysts, Video and Technology, R&D, ML and PD coaches and support staff) to gain valuable feedback and insight regarding current projects and future organizational needs.
- Provide regular reports to the Director, Baseball Development and other Baseball Development and Research & Information personnel in Philadelphia as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Possess or are pursuing a BS degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
- Experience in one or more of the following languages (including but not limited to: Python, R, SQL, JavaScript)
- Interest and ability to learn new technologies as needed
- Experience working with relational databases.
- Experience with app development. Existing platforms are largely written in React, Dash or Shiny.
- Proven willingness to both teach others and learn new techniques
- Proven leadership and self-direction
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work with and protect highly confidential and sensitive information
- Ability to communicate effectively, professionally and respectfully with peers, players, coaches, support staff and front office personnel across various departments
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in professional and/or college baseball, specifically in Research & Development, Advance Scouting and/or Player Development
- Spanish fluency
