BASIC FUNCTION:
  • Under general supervision, opens and closes the hotel bar for guests following Company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains the food prep and hotel bar area in a clean, well-organized manner while serving and assisting guests.
  • Presents a high standard of integrity, service, and hospitality at all times to promote the Drury culture with customers and co-workers.
  • Has general knowledge of the hotel, area, and events to answer questions.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
  • Requires ability to take written and verbal direction in English and speak English clearly.
  • Requires ability to mix a wide variety of drinks.
  • Requires ability to operate machines and equipment used, including but not limited to, include cash register, dishwashers, speed batch ovens and microwave, etc.
  • Requires excellent customer service skills; ability to communicate effectively with customers and all levels of team members; ability to diplomatically deal with difficult situations and people while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism.
  • Requires ability to open and close bar, obtain all supplies necessary for mixing cocktails, and clean and maintain areas for which responsible.
  • Requires ability to effectively and efficiently move around bar area.
  • Requires ability to distinguish between different denominations of currency and make change.
  • Requires ability to work with and prepare food; work independently or in teams; work in a fast paced environment; be flexible working varying shifts and time schedules as needed; work weekends and holidays.
  • Requires ability to obtain and maintain all appropriate certifications per Company requirements.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Has a +1 service attitude and provides courteous, friendly guest service by anticipating guest’s needs and responding promptly and efficiently to inquiries, requests and complaints.
  • Opens and closes hotel bar, manages a clean and safe working environment and maintains accurate cash balance and handles money in a secure manner according to Drury procedures.
  • During service hours, maintains serving areas by restocking as needed; cleans counters, floors and tables as needed; greets/interacts with guests by engaging in conversation.
  • Assists guests with menu and beverage selection, demonstrating salesmanship with complete menu and product knowledge. Cooks and assembles food orders.
  • Refuses to serve liquor to anyone who is under age, or who appears inebriated. Follows all company policies regarding alcohol service.
  • Conducts routine inventory of all food, service, and small wares items in order to maintain proper serving levels.
  • After service has ended, washes all pans, prep items, and storage containers according to sanitation guidelines. Cleans tables, behind counter, kitchen area, disposes of glasses, napkins, etc. Mop floors and/or vacuum carpet. Saves, stores, and puts away all food according to HACCP food practices. Restocks all supplies as needed.
  • Appreciates the diversity of our team and guests and contributes to maintaining a positive work environment at all times.
  • Attend and participate in all required meetings and provide follow up as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of two years of college preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
  • One or more years’ experience bartending required.
  • Two or more years’ experience bartending preferred.
  • One or more years’ experience working with and preparing food preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Requires ability to walk and stand during entire shift.
  • Requires ability to lift up to 30 pounds intermittently during the work day.
  • Requires the ability to push a vacuum, reach, stretch, and bend in routine daily events.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
  • Reports to the Assistant General Manager.
  • Maintains and promotes a positive and cooperative work relationship with all hotel departments.
