Blurred Words transports visitors to the bygone era of the 1920s and 30s at the height of prohibition, art deco designs, swinging jazz, and The Great Gatsby. At first glance, it's just a bookstore featuring a wide selection of fiction and nonfiction books and gifts. Further exploration leads to a speakeasy bar with specialty cocktails and snacks.

An ideal place for book club gatherings and live music events, Blurred Words is a gathering place for time travelers and vintage enthusiasts.

Founded by Liz Sanders in Fort Collins, Colorado, Blurred Words is a place where intellect and entertainment merge to create a fun experience for visitors and patrons.

Bartender Job Description

Bartenders mix and serve beverages and snacks based on customer requests. Their duties include verifying the identification and age of customers, processing payments, washing dishes, and balancing cash receipts. All employees will be crossed trained in both bartending and bookselling. Bookselling consists of operating a POS system for sales, recommending books to customers, and occasionally assisting with processing book inventory.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Verify identification and age requirements of customers
• Mix traditional and creative cocktails
• Process payment from customers, record and balance cash receipts and prepare cash deposits
• Keep accurate inventory records and restock items as necessary
• Clean glasses and bar utensils
• Make suggestions based on customer tastes and preferences
• Build a rapport with regular customers to create a positive atmosphere
• Other duties as assigned or required

Skills and Qualifications

• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations**
• Knowledge of mixology for traditional and creative cocktails**
• Impeccable customer service and social perceptiveness
• Ability to enforce company policies regarding the consumption of alcohol
• Accountability in maintaining inventory and processing payments
• Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods of time

• Safe Serve: Responsible Alcohol Service Workshop (Fort Collins Police Services Class)
• Fake ID Recognition (Fort Collins Police Services Class)
• TIPS Alcohol Server Training (Training for Intervention ProcedureS)
