WHAT YOU NEED TO BE A BARTENDER:
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed
- Continuous bending, stooping, reaching, twisting and use of hands and arms
- Two years of experience working in full or quick service dining required
- Must be 18 years old due to service of alcohol
WHAT BARTENDER TRAINING TASKS MAY INCLUDE:
- Complete TIPS training prior to training behind the bar
- Complete FRG Bartender training program with a certified bar trainer, which consists of at least 7 days of intensive bar training as outlined in the bar training manual and workbook
- Pass all required training tests
- Pass a recipe test before taking AM service bar practical
- Pass AM service bar practical which includes creating 6 non-alcoholic beverages in 10 minutes or less, among other benchmarks
- Work AM Service bar shifts until certified to next level of the bar through practical
WHAT BARTENDER TASKS MAY INCLUDE:
- Assist in taking orders from guests for food or beverages
- Check with guests to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems
- Check patrons' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
- Collect payments from customers
- Ring accurate guest checks/Sales using POS system
- Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters and take them to kitchen for cleaning
- Serve food or beverages to patrons and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required
- Assist in Cleaning of tables or counters after patrons have finished dining
- Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods
- Assist host by greeting, seating, and thanking guests
- Perform cleaning duties, such as sweeping and mopping floors, tidying up station, taking out trash, or checking and walk in cooler
- Inform customers of daily specials
- Prepare hot, cold, and mixed drinks for patrons, and chill bottles of wine
- Stock bar with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens, fresh syrups, juices, ice, and other necessary items to perform a shift
- Describe and recommend wines to customers
- Provide guests with information about local areas, including giving directions
