The Barrel Room Technician duties will be largely focused on barrel work and storage, including topping wine, bung checks, quality control, facility maintenance and inventory logistics/tracking. The Barrel Room Technician II will need to be proficient in forklift operation and cleared to use the forklift within the confines of the building to move macro bins, pallets, cased goods, barrels, etc. Advanced knowledge of barrel/Barrel Room maintenance and efficient methods for inventory logistics will be expected. The Barrel Technician should be able to completely fill out given work orders without errors.
Core Responsibilities
- Track inventory of empty and full barrels
- Winery and barrel sanitation, maintenance, and management including bungs and the entire vicinity.
- Knowledge of wine lot codes and Innovint.
- Knowledge of empty barrel management protocols.
- Maintain clean floors
- Manage pest control throughout the vicinity.
- Manage the Barrel Room temperature and humidity closely.
- Maintain and oversee the wine during aging process.
- Transportation of wine barrels including the operation of fork lifts and trailers.
- Top wines once a month
- Keep monthly inventory
- Check bungs weekly to ensure they are sealed properly.
- Operate a fork lift and gooseneck trailer
Requirements
- 4 years of barrel forklift transportation experience.
- General knowledge of mechanical equipment (electrical motors, fluid pumps, valves and piping systems).
- Forklift operation and safety (including barrel movement, layout and stacking).
- General cellar and chemical safety.
- Ability to follow and execute verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to complete given work orders without error in a timely manner.
- Basic math skills (arithmetic operations).
- Extended periods of time standing.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. repeatedly for extended periods of time.

Compensation range for this role is $18 - 20/hr.
