Barista/Cashier

Job description

We are looking for high energy, reliable people with positive attitudes to join our team. Baristas will prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including various types of coffee and tea. Barista responsibilities include educating customers on our drink menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items, taking orders, preparing drink/food items as well as any prepping/cleaning needed throughout the day. To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and knowledge of how brewing equipment operates. You should be able to work various shifts. This position will have the hourly wage plus tips. Ultimately, you’ll ensure an excellent drinking experience for our guests. Pay based on experience and availability.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers as they walk up to the window or enter drive thru
• Assist customers with menu/drink questions regarding ingredients, type of drink, etc.
• Suggest drinks to customers
• Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios, milk alternatives, etc.)
• Prepare beverages following recipes
• Serve beverages and prepared food, like bragels, cookies, pastries and muffins
• Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
• Keep the prep area clean
• Maintain stock of all cups, lids, food items, etc.
• Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
• Comply with health and safety regulations
• Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items

Skills

• Previous work experience as a barista or waiter/waitress, preferred, not necessary
• Hands-on experience with brewing equipment, will train
• Knowledge of sanitation regulations
• Flexibility to work various shifts
• Basic math skills
• Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
• Excellent communication skills
• High school diploma; relevant training is a plus

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week
