Purpose for the Position:
The Barista will prepare and serve coffee, specialty coffee drinks, specialty alcoholic beverages, beer, and other beverages, as well as a selection of a variety of select food items to guests.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Sets up and prepares work area for daily operations.
· Welcomes guests in a friendly, outgoing manner
· Verifies guests age prior to serving alcoholic beverages per state law, serving guests responsibly in adherence to company, local, state, and federal regulations.
· Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages, such as coffee, specialty coffee and blended coffee drinks, beer, cocktails, and other alcoholic beverages, as well as other beverages, to guests; customizing orders as requested.
· Describes product details to customers in a friendly manner, answering guest questions and suggesting menu items.
· Serves prepared foods and baked goods including sandwiches, biscotti, muffins, or bagels.
· Enters food and drink orders on the POS system.
· Receives and processes customer payments.
· Answers the telephone when necessary in a pleasant manner to take call-in food orders.
· Ensures customer service stations are properly stocked with paper products or beverage preparation items.
· Cleans and sanitizes all equipment, utensils, dishes, and work areas.
· Cleans and sanitizes service and seating areas.
· Ensures proper functioning of freezers, refrigerators, and heating by routinely checking temperatures in that equipment.
· Stocks supplies or retail products; may inventory, order, or receive products as directed.
· Follows all company policies.
· Verbally communicates with management, fellow team members, guests, and the public in a friendly and positive manner.

· Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or as required.
Skills & Abilities:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to follow all safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices.
· Has the ability to multitask and manage multiple orders simultaneously, the ability to memorize and recall faces, names, and preferences of frequent patrons, all with a friendly and professional attitude.
· Ability to serve customers quickly, efficiently, and kindly.
Education & Experience:
- Must be 21 years old.
- Prior bartending or barista experience preferred, but not required.
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Hospitality customer service experience preferred, but not required.
· Must successfully complete training in food preparation, food service skills, and customer service procedures.
Hours:
· Due to the nature of the business, scheduling may vary and include nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements of the Position:
· Standing for long periods of time.
· Light Work: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 to 2/3 of the time), and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists up to 2/3 or most of the time) to move objects.
· May be required to lift in excess of 40 pounds on occasion.
Work Conditions:
- Inside work environment. Not substantially exposed to adverse conditions.
