Job Summary
Responsible for serving as a clinical expert in the delivery and management of comprehensive patient care for the bariatric patient population. Utilizing research and evidence-based practice as necessary; for expertly caring for patients. Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelors Degree in Nursing or related field required
Licenses/Certifications:
- Licensed Healthcare Professional in Nursing or Nutrition
- Current State of Texas license/permit to practice professional nursing, Registered Nursing or Registered Dietitian (RD) licensed in the State of Texas
- Certified in Basic Life Support
- Additional certifications will be required based on discipline
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Minimum of two (2) or more years experience area of intended practice
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders

Principal Accountabilities
- Authorized to plan, coordinate, and direct all activities between nursing staff and primary physicians, including registration personnel to facilitate rapid patient flow through the department in order to attain positive outcomes.
- Directs and evaluates departmental throughput; delegates or provides backup assistance including triage when three or more patients are waiting for triage assessment.
- Assigns patients to rooms in conjunction with triage nurses to ensure patients are going to appropriate areas.
- Coordinates with ancillary departments such as lab, radiology, registration, and bed board to ensure proper turn-around times.
- Notifies nursing supervisor of significant occurrences, interventions, or delays.
- Acts as a liaison, but not limited to departmental staff, medical personnel, patients and family members. Will assist in any patient care concerns, issues and complaints.
- Coordinates and collaborates with other Clinical Coordinators ensuring departmental staffing coverage.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
