The Barber will maintain the standards of JW Marriott etiquette and service in all interactions with guests and staff. Responsible for providing all guests with customized personal attention that meets and exceeds all of their needs. Must be comfortable anticipating a guest’s needs and discussing any guest concerns and be responsible for addressing any extra details required to go above and beyond the guests’ expectations.

They must follow the established spa guidelines for all spa programs and services adhering strictly to the protocols set forth by Spa Aquae. Responsible for actively selling additional spa services, return visits, as well as retail components that will support the provided service. Goals will be set for retail and treatment sales.

Maintain current knowledge of all spa services, pricings, offerings, schedules, specials, and other services provided at the spa. Use proper etiquette and professionalism at all times. Look for every opportunity to suggest new and enhanced guest experiences.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Maintain required license(s) by State of Nevada Barbers' Health and Sanitation Board.

Preferred

• One (1) year of barber experience.
• One (1) year of guest service experience.
• Experience in retail.
• Experience in a similar luxury spa or salon setting.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES:Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

• Provide guests with a thorough and knowledgeable range of barber services, using professional draping techniques.
• Advise all incoming guests of treatment procedures and special instructions.
• Provide explanation for all barber techniques and treatments used.
• Provide respect, sensitivity, and concern for guests’ needs with a professional and pleasant manner.
• Practice Enhanced Sanitation Guidelines, established by the State of Nevada Barbers' Health and Sanitation Board, while dealing with guests and co-workers.
• Provide the range of services within the positions scope of responsibility to the standard, as set by Spa Aquae. Services to include but are not limited to haircuts with shears and clippers, straight razor shave, shampoo, style, beard trim and/or designs, and chemical services with the ability to produce an innovative and technically accurate visual presentation per treatment and department protocol.
• Ensure all professional stock used follows the correct company PAR levels to assist with reduction in product waste.
• Attend regularly scheduled product knowledge training classes, attend all staff meetings.
• Ensure that you have the necessary skills to perform assigned duties.
• Strive to consistently produce a minimum of 15% in retail sales per day / week / month.
• Promote and upsell service treatments and enhancements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Effectively communicate with all co-workers, spa guests, hotel guests, and management to their understanding.
• Assess guests’ needs and check for contra-indications prior to commencing treatment.
• Ensure all equipment is in good working order and functioning properly. Reports equipment that is broken, damaged, or unsafe immediately to Spa Leadership.
• Exercise dependability and willingness to work with schedule flexibility. May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Maintain barbershop cleanliness at all times. Practice a “clean as you go” approach to the work areas.
• Observe all departmental safety procedures and protocols.
• Handle emergency situations with urgency and discretion.
• Handle inappropriate guest behavior by stopping service and informing supervisor/manager.
• Ability and willingness to update technical skills by facilitating and participating in on-going training.
• Maintain a professional appearance at all times, adhering to departmental grooming standards.
• Practice professionalism in every situation with management, guests, and employees treating each person with respect and integrity.
• Demonstrate knowledge of current trends in spa industry, with a complete understanding of the latest treatment services, professional product lines, retail and consumer product lines and equipment.
• May be required to perform a combination of the following operationally supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by Spa Aquae management based upon the particular requirements of the spa: assist with all areas of the spa facility, administrative duties and training.
• Move, lift carry, push, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
• Maintain a complete knowledge of the following:
  • Spa Aquae policies, procedures, amenities, services.
  • Spa operating hours.
  • Spa menus, including a la carte services, signature treatments, packages, etc.
  • Pricing, fees and charges for all spa services.
  • Daily appointments, arrival of guests, availability of appointments, specials, etc.
  • Directions to spa, check-in procedures.
  • Retail brands, product lines, services and special promotion.
• Other duties as assigned.

Work is performed in a Spa & Salon environment and in other locations throughout the property. Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud. A casino environment typically allows smoking.
