$17.00 per hour plus tips


The Bar Supervisor will supervise the daily operations of the bar and lounge to achieve customer satisfaction, quality service, compliance with company policies and procedures and federal, state and local regulations, while meeting/exceeding financial goals. The Bar Supervisor is accountable for ensuring that guest interactions with bar employees are handled properly, and that the experience is a pleasant one for patrons. This is accomplished by overseeing employee/guest interactions and interceding when necessary. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

  • Manage selected business aspects of the bar to include ordering supplies, assisting in managing budgeted payroll, and setting goals. 
  • Monitor inventory 
  • Order and restock bar inventory 
  • Hiring and training staff to provide excellent service to patrons. 
  • Creating effective schedules that meet the business demands of the hotel. 
  • Resolving conflicts and ensuring the bar is staffed during peak hours. 
  • Planning and participating in promotional events. 
  • Maintains current knowledge of all popular alcoholic beverages and cocktail recipes 
  • Thorough knowledge of wines, beverages and hotel along with local area information 
  • Diffusing tense or challenging situations between patrons or staff members to prevent possible safety or legal issues. 
  • Maintaining a fun, safe atmosphere for hotel guests. 
  • Communicate with vendors to assure the appropriate number of products are on hand for the forecasted demand. 
  • Assure all transactions are conducted with no variance. 
  • Work shifts required to meet the need of the bar. This may include nights, weekends, and holidays. 
  • Engage and encourage staff creativity 
  • Ensure that any menu changes or specials are communicated to guests, bar staff and servers. 
  • Deliver a consistently high level of customer service to each client and maintain a safe environment by identifying problem clients and having them removed if needed. 
  • Develop an efficient work pace that always keeps the customers at the bar satisfied 
  • Ensure the freshest ingredients and garnishes are used 
  • Make recommendations and answer all related inquiries 
  • Ensure all staff is recording drink orders accurately into register system 
  • Ensure that alcohol pours, mixing and garnish cocktails according to recipes as generated by the Bar Manager 
  • Ensure snacks are being served to customers seated in the lounge 
  • Respond promptly to requests from customers in a polite and professional fashion 
  • Attempt to limit problems related to customers' excessive drinking by following all federal, state and local laws
  • Arrange glasses and bottles into attractive and functional displays 
  • Ensure clean glasses, bar equipment and working areas 
  • Comply with all health, safety and hygiene standards and policies 
  • Balance the cash register at the start and close of each shift 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Two years Bar Management experience preferred 
  • Minimum age requirement of 21 years 
  • Working knowledge of standard drink recipes 
  • Working knowledge of spirits, wine and beer 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. 

REASONING ABILITY 

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES 

  • Must provide the highest customer service to all guests. Ability to interact with guests using the Hospitality Standards set out by your General Manager.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the abilities to adjust focus. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature generally is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10F) and kitchens (+110F), possibly for one hour or more.
