JOB SUMMARY

The Bar Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations in the bar including efficient sales of beverages, staff training and supervision, compliance with all health and safety standards, maintaining inventory, providing excellent guest service, associated administrative duties, and assisting other areas of the Food & Beverage department as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for all aspects of daily lounge operation.
  • Ensure that health and safety standards are maintained and cleanliness procedures are consistently implemented.
  • Responsible for all aspects of supervising staff including hiring, firing, scheduling, training, evaluations, recognition, and disciplinary action.
  • Ensures the Lounge operates in accordance with its Liquor License including compliance with all training, service, and ID check requirements.
  • Develops and promotes promotional items and events to increase sales.
  • Provides bar staffing and services for all special events on property.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper inventory levels of all products and ordering inventory as needed.
  • Develops and maintains current drink menu and pricing.
  • Responsible for lounge related information and maintenance of the POS.
  • Verifies the quality of all items served conform to established quality control standards.
  • Carries out operational policies and procedures.
  • Knows Casino policies and procedures and complies with position requirements.
  • Handles customer and Team Members complaints as necessary
  • Assist in developing annual area budget and staffing needs.
  • Other duties as assigned by management, including any supervisor, manager, or executive.

Blue Lake Casino & Hotel requires Team Members, on a continual basis:
  • To provide a safe work environment for Team Members, through compliance with established safety guidelines, identifying potential safety hazards, and reporting same to the appropriate person for proper resolution.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position typically supervises a staff of approximately up to 20 Team Members. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training Team Members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Prefer bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Restaurant Management, or closely related field. Must have a minimum of three (3) years Bar Supervisory experience with strong knowledge of bar operations and mixology or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must know all applicable sanitation procedures and HACCP policies.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or Team Members of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • While employed, you must maintain a valid and active Blue Lake Tribal Gaming Commission License.
  • Must complete RBS (Responsible Beverage Service) training for serving alcohol responsibly within one month of being employed and maintain a valid certificate while employed thereafter.
  • Must possess a current Food Handlers Permit (ServSafe, etc.).
