The Hamilton Hotel is lookin to add a Banquet Service Manager to its Events division. The Banquet Service Manager is responsible for assisting in ensuring the success of all banquet events, high quality products and service levels.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must have comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
- Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware.
- Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.
- Ability to effectively supervise people.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to operate various food and beverage equipment.
- Ability to set realistic goals and standards.
- Basic computer skills
DAILY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Schedules, train, and supervise banquet staff to include conducting roll call and illustrating proper techniques and etiquette for plated, passed and buffet styles of service.
- Supervise the setup of function rooms to include placement of linens, silver, china and glassware according to event order specifications. Visually inspect functions rooms and equipment prior to functions for cleanliness, proper inventory and set up.
- Verbally communicate, in a calm, positive demeanor, during the course of the function with the kitchen, service, beverage, convention services, and engineering staffs, as well as the guest host to ensure timely execution of events, quality service, and adherence to all applicable federal, state, local safety and health regulations and corporate standards.
- Supervise the setup of bars including liquor, mixers, ice, glassware and bar supplies. Inventory alcohol used during each event.
- Supervise cleanup of function room and proper breakdown and storage of equipment.
- Enter billing information into the opera system in order to generate a final guest check.
- Check staff attendance according to schedules, adjust and reassign server stations as necessary in order to provide quality service during functions.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position is required to perform a combination of the following supportive tasks.
- Attend meetings such as menu meetings, staff meetings.
- Separates, post and distributes event order sheets.
- Assist with the execution of events according to the event order and Hamilton quality standards.
- Create unforgettable guest experiences.
EXPERIENCE
- At least five years in banquet/catering field preferred.
- Hospitality experience required.
- At least two years’ experience in direct supervision required.
