Banquet Server- Marriott Pyramid North

Job Class: Non-Exempt / Reports To: Banquet Captain/Banquet Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: To provide all guests with an entertaining and enjoyable dining experience, by serving food and beverages through quality service in the most efficient manner at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:NOTE: Legacy Development & Management may unilaterally may change the requirements of this job description at any time. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Ensure that all banquet and meeting rooms are properly set in a timely manner, so that the banquet service staff may prepare for functions.
• Responsible for timely and safe breakdown of meeting rooms after event completion.
• Cleans the beer cooler, back kitchen, banquet bars, and liquor storage rooms. Assists in keeping the property clean inside and out as assigned.
• Ensure cleanliness and organizations done in a timely manner and to assist supervisor during large functions.
• Must refresh rooms on time, have water in rooms, clean rooms and set for appropriate functions
• Serve food and drinks in a timely manner to a section of tables, as determined by management.
• Checks with the Banquet Captain when coming on duty for specific instructions for the current function and section assignment.
• Communicate and greet guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone and body language and display a helpful attitude.
• Work as a team with all Legacy Development & Management personnel in order to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service.
• Performs any necessary pre-shift side work.
• Maintains a clean and sanitary environment. Ensures compliance with all local and state health codes.
• Anticipates guests' needs, ensuring guests are provided with water, coffee, tea, or beverages in a timely manner.
• Unloads trays in the service area, racking glassware, scraping plates, and separating silverware.
• Practices "clean as you go" techniques of service, including refolding napkins and cleaning between courses, and keeping the station clean, neat, and supplied at all times.
• Completes assigned breakdown and closing side work.
• Works with safety as a priority and follows department and company safety standards.
• Knows and adheres to company and department policies and procedures, embraces company and department culture and takes pride in the hotel and amenities.
• Looks for opportunities to assist peers, guests, other departments, or leaders always. Solution oriented, stays on task and promotes teamwork.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDES EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE):The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2 (two) years of experience directly related to the essential functions listed above
• Requires a minimum of two (2) years customer service experience.
• Must possess outstanding customer service, organizational, and interpersonal skills as well as excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
• Must possess excellent communication skills, verbally interacts with management, servers, team members, and guests with proper etiquette,
• Must be Alcohol Certified in the state of New Mexico or be able to pass Responsible Service of Alcohol Test within 30 days of hire.
• Must possess basic math skills and have the ability to operate cash register and/or POS system and count back change
• Must be able to communicate in English with guests, management, and other employees to their understanding.
• Must have knowledge of workplace safety procedures
• Must be able to work overtime, including weekends, evenings, and special events as needed
