POSITION: High School/Middle School Band Director
SCHOOL: Landrum High School and Landrum Middle School
QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Possesses South Carolina Teacher Certification
2. Demonstrates expertise in knowledge and teaching of instrumental music
3. Prior experience as a Band Director (preferred)
4. Demonstrates organizational ability and skill in interpersonal relations
5. Other alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board deems necessary

Reports to: Dr. Kegan Flynn and Dr. Amy Walker Principals
Coordinates with: Mrs. Erika Center, Director, Visual and Performing Arts
The position of Band Director for the High School and Middle School consists of all the responsibilities that must be performed to ensure the successful growth of the program, development of students in the program, and attainment of excellence for the High School and Middle School band as evidenced by performance ratings at appropriate local, state, and national juried competitions for both the band and selected students.
In addition, the position of Band Director for LHS and LMS will participate as a member of the staff of the Landrum High School Band program and will receive a supplement allocated based on the number of days and the District Supplement Salary Scale for Music. The expectations for this position have been developed so that the students of both Landrum High School and Landrum Middle School have access to the best instruction, leadership, transition, and supervision as possible.
Some of the expectations of the Band Director/Band program are listed below.

• Participate annually in:

1-Festival, 2-Region Band/All-State Band, and 3-Solo & Ensemble

• Coordinate with the Chorus and Strings in scheduling concerts and also the scheduling of students who participate in multiple programs. Coordinate with feeder school programs concerning the use of the performing arts center.

• Continue to recruit and develop students participating in the Band/Fine Arts program.

• Follow the District One Exemplary checklist for maintaining the band program.

CONTRACT: 190 Days plus supplement
