The ideal candidate supporting Backup and Recovery Services is responsible for a wide array of technologies spread across disparate platforms. In addition to possessing an in depth knowledge of backup and archive services, the candidate will be proficient in the support of all peripheral products in the environment. Responsibilities range from, but are not limited to; vendor governance, backup monitoring, alerting, reporting, asset management, hardware and software currency, regulatory and compliance, development of strategic optimization initiatives, cost avoidance and cost reduction.
Technical skills:
Expertise in the support of Symantec's NetBackup 5.x - 7.x
Expertise in the support of EMC's Avamar 4.x - 7.x
Expertise in the support of EMC's Data Domain
Expertise in the support of EMC's Data Protection Advisor
Expertise in the support of disparate physical and virtual tape libraries
Expertise in the support of disparate operating system
Expertise in one or more of the following platforms (Linux, Windows, Solaris, AIX)
Expertise in one or more of the following programming languages: Korn Shell (or any variant), PERL, SQL.
General knowledge of storage area network as it pertains to Backup Services infrastructure
Versed in the management us and management of SharePoint
Highly skilled in documenting and logically organizing a documentation library
Versed in the peripheral productivity tools that support the bank's larger framework (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio)
Visual Studio experience (2013 preferred, but earlier versions okay)

Experience with large enterprise environments
Excellent English skills
Minimum 3 years experience supporting an enterprise backup management application with skills in following areas:
Deploying, managing, troubleshooting and reporting on Netbackup and/or Avamar
Expertise in the support of Data Domain.
Proficiency in DPA
Expertise in the management and support of storage area network as it pertains to backup management applications.
Well versed in one or more of the following programming languages: Korn Shell (or any variant thereof), Perl; SQL.
Expertise in supporting Enterprise Class Unix and Wintel servers.
Ability to logically and methodically troubleshoot infrastructure issues in an enterprise environment.
Defining and maintaining retention policies in line with standards
Monitoring backup server environment, acknowledging and owning problems
Monitoring and ensuring that backup server maintenance tasks are successful on a daily basis, identifying and gaps and working with vendor through resolution
Raising problem tickets, change control tickets, problem tickets
Manage issues to resolution
Assist Engineering group with backup server software upgrades and fixes
Maintain centralised area for infrastructure and configuration documentation
Assist vendor and client community in the resolution of backup failures
Provide assistance to Systems Administrators regarding backup client software installation and configuration
Maintain the backup server web site
Provide reports on backup client events for customers
Provide reports on backup server activities
Maintain a set of up to date backup server recovery plan files.
