Job Summary
The Backroom Production Associate at RWB Thrift is responsible for executing diverse tasks and processes within backroom operations. This position requires attention to detail, physical endurance, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Your daily tasks will encompass a wide range of physically demanding duties, including heavy lifting, material handling, and equipment operation. From ensuring the cleanliness and organization of our store to operating machinery to compact and transport recyclable materials, your role is as dynamic as it is strenuous. You'll need to be physically fit, have a keen eye for detail, and possess the resilience to thrive in a fast-paced, labor-intensive environment. A top performing individual is eager to enhance and broaden their skills, enabling them to perform well in multiple areas of the backroom as business needs dictate.
Pre-sorters: Pre-sorters serve as the crucial first step in the sorting process. Their responsibilities involve opening bags or boxes and directing items to the appropriate department by placing them into the corresponding tub or bin. Beyond this, Pre-sorters play a pivotal role by conducting the initial assessment of each item's condition, determining whether it meets the criteria for sale, and ensuring the smooth flow of items through the sorting process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily ragout duties

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous thrift, retail, warehouse, or back of house experience is preferred, but not required
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to Safely Perform Job Functions: Capable of safely and effectively performing essential job functions in accordance with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting both qualitative and quantitative productivity requirements.
  • Physical Strength: Must have the ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 40 lbs, frequently exert up to 25 lbs. of force, and constantly apply negligible force when handling objects.
  • Endurance: Able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Manual Dexterity: Proficient in performing repetitive motions such as extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction and working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm.
  • Fine Motor Skills: Skilled in tasks involving seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands. Especially using a pushing and pulling motion.
  • Balance and Agility: Capable of maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces, as well as maintaining balance when performing agile tasks.
  • Visual Acuity: Possesses clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more.
  • Footwear: Required to wear closed-toe shoes for safety purposes.
  • Repetitive Tasks: The job involves regular repetitive motions.

Scheduling Requirements
  • Production Associates are typically scheduled to work Monday - Friday, 7am - 3:30pm
