Backend Developer (Python/FastAPI & Node.js)

Leidos' Health and Civil Sector is seeking a Backend Developer (Python/FastAPI & Node.js) to support an exciting Federal Healthcare program.

Candidate must be a US Citizen or US Person (Green Card Holder) who currently lives in the United States for the current three consecutive years.

Preference is for this person to be local to the DC metro area for onsite customer meetings.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Backend Developer proficient in Python (with a focus on FastAPI), and Node.js to join our federal health agency's technology team. This role entails designing and implementing secure, scalable backend services that enhance our health-related applications. The successful candidate will be adept in modern API development and familiar with a collaborative environment, crafting solutions that significantly impact public health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain robust backend services using Python with FastAPI and Node.js.
• Design high-performance APIs and integrate backend services with databases and third-party systems.
• Ensure compliance with federal health regulations through secure coding practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate user requirements into reliable technical solutions.
• Optimize existing backend applications to boost functionality and scalability.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation and manage version control using Git.
• Implement unit and integration tests to maintain high software quality standards.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of backend development experience, specifically with Python (FastAPI) and Node.js.
• Proven track record of developing high-performance APIs.
• Strong understanding of asynchronous programming and its practical applications.
• Experience with database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar.
• Solid grasp of security practices pertinent to the healthcare industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with other Python frameworks like Django and Flask is advantageous.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Previous work in a federal or regulated environment, particularly in healthcare.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $81,250.00 - $146,875.00
