Founded in 1982, American Business Systems develops software for the Water Conditioning Industry. Our “Dealership Management System” includes Customer Billing, Lead Tracking, Delivery & Service Route Optimization, as well as Credit Card and ACH payment processing. Our clients are located in the USA and Canada, Switzerland and Germany.
American Business Systems, Inc. is seeking a passionate web developer with a keen sense of creative, leading-edge design and a fervent attention to detail and accuracy. Your primary function will be to aid in porting an existing legacy business desktop application (written in VB6) to a web-based platform using Bootstrap and Angular reactive forms with validation calling APIs written in C# with .NET Core.
Applicant can work from home on most days, but must be able to spend at least one day a week in our Northbrook, IL 60062 office.
Position Responsibilities:
- Development of web-based APIs written in C# with .NET Core access various 3rd party services and SQL Server databases.
- Apply best practices and techniques to design, develop, test, debug, deploy, support and maintain complex web applications based on business requirements using approved technologies and coding standards.
- Investigate and fix problems with web-based software in real-time, using modern profiling techniques to triage issues as they arise.
- Conduct experiments and analyze data to identify ways to improve technical performance, ensuring that results are valid and reproducible.
- Communicate technical knowledge to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Minimum Requirements:
- Either - Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of experience in a role such as software development, release management or deployment engineering
- Or - High School/GED and 5+ years of experience in a role such as software development, release management or deployment engineering
- Back-end web development experience, particularly 2+ years of experience with C#, .NET Core and Microsoft SQL Server to validate web-API calls.
- Pluses include experience with Visual Studio or Visual Code, Entity Framework, RESTful API, Postman and Visual Basic.
- Experience in Technology infrastructure, such as Networking, Monitoring, Systems, Databases, etc.
- Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
- Experience analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.
- Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, in the business community & with vendors.
- Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
