Description:

Looking for an experienced Business & Quality Assurance Analyst to join our IT department in Silver Spring, MD. Reporting to the IT Program Director, the Business & Quality Assurance Analyst (BA/QA) will be working on the IT team supporting corporate/enterprise initiatives which include, but are not limited to, Finance, Legal, HR, Real Estate, and Investment Services as well some insurance related projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing Business Analysis that includes participating on project teams to gather and understand business requirements and work with vendors, developers, and end users to capture and create system capabilities that support business needs. The candidate will also perform the function of Quality Assurance by testing the developed solutions to ensure it performs as required.

Responsibilities:

•Collaborate with all key business and IT stakeholders of varying associate/management levels to gather and analyze business requirements, interpret needs, identify opportunities for process and technology improvement, and develop solutions that solve technical and/or business issues of varying complexity.

•Function as primary analyst on multiple complex projects concurrently.

•Conduct group JAD sessions and interviews as a method of software configuration and requirements gathering.

•Use advanced verbal and written communication skills and expert business process knowledge to effectively communicate technical and non-technical materials accurately to all project team members.

•Develop project documentation to include process diagrams, formal proposals, vendor software evaluation studies, feasibility studies, requirements specifications, use cases, system gap analysis, test cases, and testing plans.

•Conduct in-depth data analysis, data mapping, data dictionary and business rule definition for implementation, conversion, and integration efforts to provide insights and recommendations for business strategy and process improvements.

•Plan and conduct meetings to include presentations for design, peer, and user acceptance reviews.

•Present evaluations of technology alternatives and recommendations of vendors to IT management and business stakeholders in an effort to identify resolution and gain consensus on the selection of the most viable solution.

•Assume responsibility for the resolution of assigned system and process issues, tracking project progress and notifying management of issues that require escalation.

•Execute and manage all aspects of the testing phase for all types of system implementations and enhancements. Knowledge on how to approach testing for data conversions, system migrations, COTS, web-based applications, portal, and infrastructure projects is required. Responsibility may include all facets of test data setup, test plans and test cases, as well as coordination of effort throughout unit, system, and user acceptance testing (UAT).

•Develop, document, and execute test scenarios, test plans, test cases and test scripts in accordance with functional requirements and technical specifications.

•Assist Project Manager(s) in planning and estimating efforts - providing input/clarity on business requirements, implementation options, phasing strategies, and level of effort estimates.

•Identify and communicate impact of system changes on other projects or systems or on areas throughout the company, ensuring these impacts are communicated across teams.

•Manage small technical projects as needed, develop project plans, and monitor project performance.

•Monitor deliverables and ensure timely completion of projects.

•Be proactive and accountable to tasks and assigned responsibilities. Work well in a fast paced, cross-functional environment.

•Participate in special projects as needed, providing analytical support and guidance.

Requirements:

•Based in the Washington, DC metro area.

•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information System, or other related field is required.

•Have 5-7 years of Business Analysis and Quality Assurance experience.

•Able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise, and complete manner.

•Have strong analytical, problem solving, judgement and decision-making skills.

•Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

•Be naturally flexible, adaptable, proactive, and collaborative with an agile, people-oriented, innovative, and customer-centric mindset. Must be able to spot opportunities for efficiencies and improvements.

•A strong understanding of systems development life cycle and QA practices are essential to the position, along with experience planning test strategies for different types of projects. Must be able to create and execute test plans and test scripts.

•Have beginner to intermediate SQL skills.

•Experience with Azure DevOps.

•Salesforce/CRM experience a big plus.

•Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Microsoft Project, Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Experience creating solutions with Office 365 Apps, SharePoint, MS Teams, and associated collaboration tools.

•IT Certifications (ITIL, PMP, etc.) are not required but are a plus.
