Position Description

CGI has an immediate need for an AWS RDS Engineer (Aurora, Postgres, SQL/Server) to join our financial services team in one of our selected CGI locations. Due to the current COVID-19 status, candidates will not be required to work within the physical work location at this time. When COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, they will be required to be located within the proximity of the assigned CGI location.

CGI is looking for an AWS RDS Engineer (Aurora, Postgres, SQL/Server) with both application and infrastructure support experience. This is a position within the Enterprise DB Support team responsible to support multiple business portfolios across multiple platforms and a great opportunity to pick up new skills supporting our clients Cloud transformation initiative.

Your future duties and responsibilities

Develop solutions and resolve a wide range of issues, as necessary with limited direction

Identify and evaluate industry trends in database systems to serve as a source of information and advice for upper management

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

Minimum 5 years of DBA experience

1 - 2 years of hands-on experience in AWS RDS (RDS and data migration services)

Experience on Amazon services like Stacks, Service Catalog, Cloudwatch, GLUE, S3.

Strong Postgres/SQL Server DB administration experience in production environments

Configuration and support of complex RDS Databases in AWS environment, Configuring and managing high availability, resiliency solutions leveraging Aurora Read replicas & Global Database

Experience of managing and upgrading multiple RDS, database versions on large systems

Knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices along with practical experience in monitoring

Experience in using Performance Insights, Performance Turning , RDS KPI design and management

Working knowledge of DevOps support model

Working knowledge of Lambda, Python

Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
