Amazon Data Services Inc. is currently hiring for a Edge DCEO Engineer to support our data centers in the Midwest region, primarily in the Chicago area. The Edge DCEO Engineer responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response. They are expected to be a singular focal point for all facility operations within a given data center. The Edge DCEO Engineer manages small-to-medium projects from planning to completion, obtains and tracks quotes for all necessary costs and documenting project results for future implementation at other facilities.
This candidate must be familiar with equipment primarily found in data centers, which includes, but is not limited to, stand-by diesel generators, switch gear, UPS's, PDU's, AHU's, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFD's, and building automation systems.
This is a 50% travel position and the successful candidate will be expected to travel primarily in the midwest USA region, but also have occasional travel throughout the USA.
This position is also expected to respond off hours to site events and emergency issues
Key job responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data center.
Operate independently with limited direct management.
Act as an escalation point for all facilities-related issues within the data center, escalating to the ORD Regional Manager as appropriate.
Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
Troubleshoot and report of facility and data sever-level events within internal SLA.
Create and deploy new standard practices for the Edge DCEO team and vendor support teams.
Provide training and guidance to DCEO technicians
Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendors and Amazon staff.
Communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies.
Respond to off hour emergency calls related to his data centers and help with the investigation, mitigation, and recovery of the issue(s).
Candidates should be able to lift up to 40 lbs and or work in elevated locations.
Ability to work in an environment that operates 24/7 with an ability to provide after-hours support as needed. All physical requirements are expected with reasonable accommodations
